Education is key when it comes to maintenance on a sewer system. Property owners need to know what their responsibility is, and what is the counties responsibility. They also need to know who to call at the county office if there is a problem, potential problems they may have to deal with in the future, and what to do about them.
When property owners educate themselves, they will find themselves better prepared when something happens. This is vital for first-time homeowners that have never had to deal with problems of this nature before.

Preventing problems before they start is the key to maintaining a pipe. This includes having drains snaked with a camera on a regular basis and having the pipes under the property inspected. The sewer under the property should be inspected before purchasing a home, but, if it wasn't it should be as soon as possible.

Property owners have no way of telling how old the pipes are that are running under their backyard, or if there are problems with them unless they are inspected. If there are problems, this gives homeowners the chance to fix them before they get bigger. If there aren't, homeowners can sleep a little better at night, and they only have to worry about inspection every few years.

Pipe Lining
Pipe lining is one of the most creative ways to fix a problem. The lining molds to the pipe, creating a barrier that will guarantee small pinholes and cracks that will create a problem. While pipe lining may be the most popular option, it does not work in every situation.

Homeowners that are responsible for their own maintenance are encouraged to take the time to educate themselves about pipe lining. If there is a problem, they will hear about this procedure eventually, and it's always a good idea to have a bit of knowledge about pipe lining before a problem arises.

The pipes underneath the house and property are not the only ones a homeowner will have to deal with or repair. This also applied to the small pieces of plumbing that are running underneath the kitchen sink. To help prevent problems before they happen, homeowners should regularly clean their pipes. This doesn't require expensive chemicals or a professional for that matter.

Instead, homeowners can simply pour boiling water down the drains periodically to help rinse small particles that have clung to the sides of the pipe the rest of the way down to prevent them from forming a blockage.

Owning a home can be an exciting and wonderful time for couples, but there is a bit of a learning curve involved for homeowners that do not want to spend a small fortune on expensive repairs in the future, particularly when it comes to the sewer or plumbing. Instead, homeowners can follow these tips to make sure that all the plumbing on their property, both inside and underneath the property, functions perfectly for years to come.

Industrial Pump Service in NYC

NY Pump & Motor has been providing Industrial Pump Service in NYC Metropolitan area since 1941. We pride our self with prompt & professional Industrial Pump Services along with high level of customer care.

It seems unusual in our industry to consider all the aspects of a system working together, even though this is what we are aiming for. The aim of this white paper is to promote ‘Joined-up Thinking’.
Water is a strange entity, the only substance that gets bigger (expands) as it gets hotter and as it gets colder when viewed from a 4°C starting point.

Water is not compressible, for practical purposes, and as a result, the ‘pressure’ that we see in water systems comes from the physical weight of water and the associated equipment for moving it around.
The physics of Static Height are easily simplified in our industry, for practical purposes 10m of vertical height on a water system relates to a 1 bar pressure at the bottom, to have 0 bar at the top. We can think in terms of the sea, easy to swim and float on the top, difficult to exist on the bottom of the sea with lots of water above. In terms of physical engineering, a submarine to go 10m underwater in a swimming pool is the same submarine that can go 10m underwater in the Atlantic. The weight of water is the key to understanding here, it does not matter if a pipe is a 15mm diameter, 1000mm diameter or 10,000mm diameter, for a 10m system height, 1 bar is the water pressure (weight) at the bottom with no pressure (weight) at the top.

A circulation pump is designed to do one thing, move water around a system at the required flow rate. To do this it has to effectively push, and sometimes pull, the water. Back to Physics again, push and pull are simply forces, that affect the perceived pressure of the water at that point. This is also referred to as ‘pump head’. ‘Pump Head’ is what is required to push the water around a system, not to overcome the static height, it is there to overcome the frictional resistance of the system in terms of pressure loss through heat exchangers, pipework, fittings, emitters, and valves. This way, a system with a 200-meter static height does not need a ‘Pump Head’ of 20 bars.

For modern pumps to work effectively, a suitable positive pressure is required on the suction side of the pump. This is called the net positive suction head (NPSH) and is generally not a consideration when the pump equipment is sited at the bottom of a tall system, with the pump seeing the whole static head of the system. However, following our overall approach of joined up thinking, the circulating pump cost may be significantly reduced if it is moved to the top of the system. In doing so it must also be considered that a slight increase in fill pressure is required at this point to make sure that the NPSH requirements of the pump are also met.

Nowadays, due to the constant rise in oil prices, there is an increasing need for energy efficient products that provide greater savings to users. The hotel industry is among the most energy-intensive sectors of the economy, meaning soaring costs for operating the facilities. Most of the hotels use conventional and energy-inefficient systems such as conventional boilers in order to produce domestic hot water. The need to find more economical energy upgrading solutions for existing installations is imperative. The attention of interested parties is mostly directed towards the use of heat pumps or solar energy.

But, where does the truth lie and what is more economical?

Main advantages of using a heat pump compared to a boiler:

• Energy upgrading of buildings
• Energy efficiency and operating cost reductions up to 70%
• Return on investment approximately within 3 years

Main advantages of using a heat pump compared to a central solar field:

• Faster return on investment
• Less space required
• Less need for maintenance
• The smaller volume of hot water storage tanks and hence less space for boiler rooms

These and many other advantages prove that the use of a heat pump is the best solution for the needs of a hotel.

NY Pump & Motor offers professional pump repair service in the tri-state area for many buildings and institutions. Our pump repair staff is ready to help you when you need us.
